Ahoskie, the
largest community in Hertford County, is located
in the northeastern part of North Carolina near
the Chowan River, about 24 miles south of the
Virginia line and about 60 miles southwest of
Portsmouth-Norfolk, VA. The Ahoskie area enjoys
a temperate climate with cold, but never severe,
winters and moderately warm summers.
Located on
the Chowan and Meherrin rivers, Hertford
County is a serene, picturesque
community rich in tradition. A walk
through historic Murfreesboro and the
herring runs at Tunis are deeply rooted
